What really happened to the world's most loved AI Dev Tool, Cursor AI overnight?

How did AI screw up things in 12 hours?

It's a common phenomenon to overhype AI for everything.

But it's far from the truth that AI can do everything on its own - a workflow that starts from a human and ends with a human. We simply cannot still trust AI to do that without human intervention (yet).

AI still requires coding, configurations and right placement and orchestration and a human in between.

Let's dive into what happened with Cursor AI.

Cursor AI lost customers overnight due to a situation where its AI-powered support bot hallucinated a policy change, falsely stating that users were not allowed to log in from multiple machines. This misinformation, coupled with actual technical issues causing users to get logged out when switching devices, led to mass cancellations and a significant erosion of user trust.

What works best is a 50:50 approach.

Half Human & Half AI.

Otherwise it's gonna be a mess in terms of financial terms as well as reputation wise which takes way longer to reinstate.
