Most AI companies are obsessed with text.
Most AI companies are obsessed with text.
Chatbots. Prompts. Typing into a box.
But here's what I think everyone is sleeping on: the future of AI isn't typed. It's spoken.
Think about it. We don't naturally communicate by typing. We talk. We speak out. We whisper. We pray.
Voice is the oldest interface humans have. And yet most of the AI world is still building for screens and keyboards.
I'm building ThyWord, a voice first prayer app that listens to your spoken prayers and responds with Scripture in real time. And what I've learned building this in public over the last few months is something that surprised me.
People don't want to type their deepest thoughts. They want to say them out loud.
There's something that happens when you speak a prayer versus when you type one. It hits different. It's more raw. More real. The voice carries weight that text simply cannot.
And when AI can meet someone in that moment, not with a chatbot response but with the right Scripture at the right time, that's when technology stops feeling like technology.
We're in the early innings of voice AI. Not just for prayer, but for therapy, for journaling, for coaching, for gratitude.
The companies that figure out how to build AI that truly listens (not just transcribes) are going to change how people interact with technology forever.
I'm betting my company on it.
If you're also building at the intersection of voice and AI, I'd love to connect. This space is wide open and I think the best is still ahead.
